There were some technical problems. Combine that with a touch of laziness and lots of busy-ness and the result is two years, totally update free: The last show we played (now over a year ago) was a lot of fun, at the now defunct East End Cafe (possibly the future "Mojo on Main"?), with Come on Homewreckers. After that, Sean took some time off for school and then an extended trip to Korea/ India, and now here we are. During the downtime, Rick, Kirby and I started an all-electronic group that we've become rather fond of, called Troubled Hips. That group appeared in public a few times and recordings/further documentation for that group are forthcoming. The ever entertaining all-improv group Carl Sagan and the War Over Humanity also played a bunch of shows and recorded a full length noise jam/ texture cd during this period. Kirby has decided to focus on Troubled Hips due to school/work and Deaf Not Dead is going to be appearing as a trio for now. Lots of new songs. 7/23 at Mojo 13 with a band called Zelazowa; 7/27 at the Khyber with our pals Atlas; and 7/29 at Del Rose Cafe in Wilmington, as part of the "Spark Summer Series".

We moved into a new place in June where we set up a good solid basement studio/practice space, and have been happily writing and recording all summer. Most of the season was spent recording various new things and working on the songs for the Soundwalk at the Philly Fringe Festival. It's called Beyond The Pale, and is totally weird and fun and is being peformed now until Sept. 12, 2008 at the Philly Fringe Fest! Lots of details and links for the soundwalk on the homepage, but we're happy to have been a part of it. Thanks to our friend Jason Gray for getting us involved with all that through his friend/Soundwalk director lady Liz. Mr. Gray and Liz also did all the sound effects/treatments/spoken word which, along with our music, make up the sound-track for the Sound-Walk. The audience gets MP3 Players for the performance and walks around with headphones while listening to an audio track and watching actors do things in the park. Its almost like an interactive, live silent film and is really something. We understand Soundwalks are more common in Europe, and are just starting to be staged here in the States. Good luck to Liz and the actors this week at the festival!

So! Album finally done. It's called Commotions and has 10 songs. Atlas had a lovely CD release thing at the East End Cafe last night along with us and Two Dads which went very well and was loads of fun. We sort of made it our unofficial CD release too, and gave away a bunch of promo copies to people. We're still working on finishing some artwork, but for all practical purposes the album is done and out in the world.
